it's been hard to think about or write about or dream about anything aside from the storm. the feeling that most of nyc is getting back to "normal" while some are left behind, not able to return to their normal, makes it even more unsettling to go about everyday business. people are still in the cold, in the dark, having lost their homes and all that they owned. some of my students still aren't coming to class. the added stress of transportation gone awry and a compressed work week could be felt in new york, last week. on monday, lots of people in coffee shops had suitcases with them.
