i'll trade you some pickled plums for that green blanket on the back of the couch in the last pic:))) i pickled them using a canning recipe from the 'joy of pickling' by linda ziedrich-- uses cider vinegar + cinnamon, hot pepper, cloves,allspice, cardamom + ginger:)))
oh i think we need to get that book. or maybe not--we'll just use your recipe right here! the blanket is reversible; i bought it on the street with much joy. the joy of buying blankets.
the only reason to look at the recipe is to get the acidity level right sine you can't really tell with canning til you unseal the jars... i played around with the rest of it spices-wise but followed her vinegar:sugar ratio pretty much exactly, though it didn't make enough liquid + i had to improvise in the end to fill the jars. her ratio was 6.5 lb plums/5.5 cups cider vinegar/4 cups sugar, prick the plums with forks before cooking them in the heated liquid...:)))
