Grown from mutual pity: People rashly joined cults out of politeness, and indulged in massive group weddings or compassionate pet adoption (small hedgehogs and rabbits entered the domestic pet scene at this time). Elderly people moved back into the homes of their children; bindles and guttersnipes had warm food. What was less expected was the appearance of a small marmot-like animal that hung from heads and was said to bring wealth and protection. Marmot hoods were the rage!
