i started the morning organizing my files, getting ready to dive back into some writing projects and then drew in my journal a bit. i need to remember that drawing is a relaxing part of writing. i am tempted to buy some snowshoes, today. if i had them, i would already be outside--not in my pj's. i'm going to sit down with dan's article this afternoon and read it carefully. i was so excited when it came out that i almost couldn't focus.
2012: said goodbye to our cat, moved into a house with my partner, spent 6 weeks in the woods writing, started an oral history school, learned how to meditate, hurt my back and received a lot of kindness/help, delivered a lecture at Columbia, wrote less, interviewed therapists at the Rusk Institute, became a better audio editor, traveled to Chicago and Tucson, delivered a paper in Cleveland, made some new friends, had more trouble spending time alone than in 2011, listened to Briars of North America album on repeat, celebrated my parents' 50th wedding anniversary with them, rekindled a love for walks in the woods in the winter, anxiety, listened to a lot of Krista Tippet interviews, dealt with a lot of pain, felt consistently grateful for my rabbit's beauty and spirit, anger went away, danced more around the house, laughed more, acupuncture, ping pong, missed my grandmother, hung my parents' art in our home, met new babies, read more, watched too much tv on my computer, texted Lily a lot at night, felt too much fear to take on difficult projects, visited with Christine in Brooklyn, did not kill a christmas tree, ate a vegetarian thanksgiving, my partner did so many things for me this year.
